Class Structure
This practical introductory course explores some of
the most important new social media tools through weekly online
lectures, readings, videos, and discussion.
There will also be optional weekly readings,
assignments and practice with new technologies for those who
wish to supplement their learning. I highly recommend these, but leave it to each student to determine what best meets his or her needs.
There will also be an optional 20 minute consultation
on applications of the class to an individual's own projects. This
must be set up in advance with the instructor and any telephone expense
picked up by the participant.
Who Should Attend?
The class is geared to
help individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and organizations
understand how social media tools can be successfully applied in their own company and career.
Students will run the gambit from newly graduated members of
the digital generation to very senior executives, from Web
2.0 start ups to large well established companies and come from all over the world.
This rich mix provides
a exceptional opportunity to learn from others with experiences very
different from our own. And, like the Internet itself, levels the
playing field. Each of us brings something special to contribute.
